So this last tour with Cheyenne was totally rad. I got to hang with J.C. and get to know Cheyenne and Drew better. They are so talented, it is silly. As steel sharpens steel, so too is it so beneficial to watch a supremely talented writer and singer do their thing.
Combine that with the fact that I had a ton of time, alone in the van, to sing song ideas into my recording device and put together some ideas for songs, refine old ideas and generally act like a crazy person.
So now the idea coffers are full-to-bursting. It is time. The songs keep getting smelted in the hot fire and the slag burned away; the only question now is ‘where’. There are so many ideas and opportunities. Germany might be an option. Santa Fe might be an option. A shack in the woods might be an option. The next few weeks will be interesting in terms of how fate and human will shall play out.
No question about the direction we’re going to go in; upward, through dreams, to the stars. The gloves are off. I feel like I’ve proven that I can work within confines so as not to have burned out early nor failed to grow. So now all the confines are off. This record is going to be about letting go of control, refining through doing (as opposed to thinking) and giving in to my first love…reverb. Oh how I love reverb in all its myriad forms. It is time to let sixteen year old me make the record he’s been dying to make.
Unleash the beast.
